Research area: History, Art, Political Science, Sociology Language: Japanese, English Die Datenbank Area Studies: Japan bietet eine breite Palette von Quellen von Schriftstellern, Diplomaten, Touristen, Geschäftsleuten und Missionaren. Diese dokumentieren die politische, kulturelle und soziale Geschichte Japans von 1400 bis zum 20. Jahrhundert. Highlights: Mittelalterliche Manuskripte über Japan, darunter ein Bericht von Marco Polo, oder das Logbuch von William Adams (1564 - 1620), alias Miura Anjin, der erste Engländer, der Japan besucht hat. Außerdem Zeitschriften, Druckartikel und andere Papiere von William Elliot Griffis (1843 - 1928), amerikanischer Autor, Lehrer und Bildungsreformer in Japan.
