Das verteilte digitale Bildarchiv für Forschung und Lehre
Research area: ArtPrometheus is a distributed digital image archive for art history, archeology and cultural sciences. It connects image heterogeneous databases online and makes them accessible for research and education. Research and museum databases with detailed information about objects are included, as are institute databases with visual material for teaching. Prometheus is also a port for a variety of didactic units that both complement academic teaching and learning and aid independent study. Individual images can be compiled and arranged for lecture presentations. Some 1,023,645 images gathered from 71 databases in different spheres are currently available. Databases with images from the public domain have recently been offered in an open-access area as well.
