The site draws on collections of the Goldsmiths' Library of Economic Literature at the University of London and on the Kress Library of Business and Economics of Harvard University's Graduate School of Business Administration. The Making of the Modern World grants full-text access to more than 61,000 books that appeared between 1460 and 1850 as well as 466 series and individual journals predating 1906-nearly 12 million pages in all. The site focuses on economic activity in the broadest sense, including political science, history, sociology, and additional other special collections on transport, banking and finance, and the crafts.
