Robert Gorwa (@rgorwa) is a PhD candidate in the Department of Politics and International Relations, University of Oxford, and is visiting as a fellow with the Weizenbaum Institute research group "Digitalisierung und Demokratie." Robert works on online platform regulation, content moderation, and other transnational digital policy challenges, with recent work on 'platform governance' published in Information, Communication & Society, Internet Policy Review, and other journals.
He is affiliated with the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism and the Centre for Technology and Global Affairs and Oxford, the Project on Democracy and the Internet at Stanford University, and the Max Bell School of Public Policy at McGill University. He holds a MSc from the Oxford Internet Institute, University of Oxford, and a BA in International Relations from the University of British Columbia, Canada.
He contributes writing on technology to the Los Angeles Review of Books, and has written for Internationale Politik, Wired Magazine UK, the Washington Post, Foreign Affairs, and a host of other popular outlets.
