Uncertain Futures: EU citizenship in the shadow of Brexit

If Britain leaves the European Union, over 60 million British citizens face being stripped of their EU citizenship rights and 3.8 million EU 27 citizens resident in Britain face an uncertain future in the UK in terms of the continued exercise of their EU citizenship rights. The talk by Ruvi Ziegler will critically appraise the possible 'remedies'. It will shed light on the impact of Brexit on electoral rights of citizens of other EU member states in the UK and those of UK citizens residing elsewhere in the EU: unresolved questions pertain to the maintenance of electoral rights in local government elections and elections to devolved parliaments and assemblies in the UK and, correspondingly, of UK citizens elsewhere in the EU; as well as the particular challenges raised in respect of citizenship arrangements in Northern Ireland, pursuant to the GFA.
