Short bio

Mark Copelovitch is Professor in the Department of Political Science and the Robert M. La Follette School of Public Affairs at the University of Wisconsin—Madison and the Jean Monnet Chair in the European Union and the Global Economy.

Copelovitch studies international political economy, with a focus on the politics of international money and finance. His research explores the political causes and consequences of financial crises and economic shocks and the politics of international organizations, including the International Monetary Fund and the European Union. He is the author of two books, The International Monetary Fund in the Global Economy: Banks, Bonds, and Bailouts (Cambridge University Press, 2010) and Banks on the Brink: Global Capital, Securities Markets, and the Political Roots of Financial Crises (Cambridge University Press, 2020), as well as articles in journals such as the American Journal of Political Science, Comparative Political Studies, the Journal of European Public Policy, the Journal of Politics, International Organization, International Studies Quarterly, and the Review of International Organizations.
