Rolle Alho

Rolle Alho is a PhD candidate at the University of Turku (Finland) and a member of 'The Finnish Doctoral Program on Labour and Welfare Studies', LabourNet. His thesis focuses on trade unions' strategies in relation to migration. The thesis is aimed to be finished by the end of 2013. At the University of Helsinki he is also involved in a research project on A Study of Temporary Labour Migrants' Experiences of Working Conditions and Social Protection in Finland. His research interests include labor markets, trade unions, migration, and ethnic relations. He has published several articles on these issues. He holds an MSc in sociology from the London School of Economics and Political Science. Outside academia he has worked for instance for the International Cultural Centre Caisa in Helsinki, The Finnish Institute for International Affairs, and Helsinki employment services.
