Daniel Ziblatt made Karl W. Deutsch Visiting Professor 2019
Daniel Ziblatt, political scientist and Eaton Professor of the Science of Government at Harvard University, is the new Karl W. Deutsch Visiting Professor at the WZB.
Ziblatt will spend his visiting professorship at the WZB’s Democracy and Democratization unit, where he will research the revolt of the right and the crisis of democracy. He recently published the New York Times bestseller, How Democracies Die (Crown, 2018), co-authored with Steve Levitsky. Ziblatt is also a fellow of the American Academy in Berlin.
The Karl W. Deutsch Visiting Professorship was established to honor the life and work of the WZB’s longstanding director (1975-1987), Karl W. Deutsch. Social scientists who excel in their scientific achievements or have promising research ideas in the field of Karl W. Deutsch’s own research interests are invited to the WZB for a two-month research residency.
