Flexible Work Arrangements and Income

Main content

An increasing number of flexible work arrangements such as part-time work, fixed-term contracts, solo-selfemployment, flextime and payment-for-performance is marking a change in the german labour market. Meanwhile wage inequality is increasing. Do flexible work arrangements contribute to the segmentation into outsider and insider jobs? Or is there a trade-off between employee-chosen flexibility and income? These questions are adressed with quantitative data analyses.

The dissertation on the question "For whom is non-standard work precarious? Heterogeneous effects of temporary and part-time employment on individual precarity risks and wage inequality in Germany?" was successfully defended in October 2020.
