School-to-Work Transitions in Times of Economic Crisis: Causes, Consequences and Remedies

The WZB is hosting the 21st Annual Workshop of the European Research Network on Transition-in-Youth. The main objective of the network is to advance our understanding of transitions in youth with a special focus on the transitions between education system and labour market.

Young people are among those who tend to suffer most heavily from the economic crisis. The consequences, however, vary considerably across countries and across social groups. Institutional factors play a crucial role in how they catalyze the crisis’ impacts. Among others, the workshop will discuss the following topics: What are the consequences of the crisis for young peoples’ lives? Which role do institutions and policy measures play in buffering or fostering the severe consequences?
